World Oceans Day 2023

2023-06-08 14:21

Changing. It is aimed at raising awareness about protecting the ocean. The earth’s 70% surface is covered by oceans, which is critical to managing climate change and sustaining its biodiversity. Therefore, protecting the ocean means protecting the earth, the blue planet.

But sadly, plastic pollution is becoming more serious, which has a significant impact on marine ecosystems. It is reported that people consume about 400 million tonnes of plastic every year, only 20% of which are recycled. Worse then, most of them are dumped in landfills or oceans. At present, plastics make up 80% of ocean waste. If no effective measures are taken to decrease the demand for plastics and improve plastic recyclability, plastics will surge three times by 2060 with the increase in population.

The way people make, consume, and dispose of plastics is damaging ecosystems, posing health hazards, and destabilizing the climate. Plastic pollution has become an urgent problem to be solved. Therefore, World Environment Day 2023 delivers a call to the world to beat plastics pollution, and it focuses on solutions to plastic pollution under the campaign #BeatPlasticPollution.

According to the United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, for beating plastic pollution and protecting the earth, we must work as one, governments, companies, and consumers alike, to break our addiction to plastics, champion zero waste, and build a truly circular economy, Only in this way, can we shape a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable future for all.

BWOO, one of the most famous phone accessory manufacturers, is deeply aware of the pollution that industrial production has brought to the environment. Therefore, we have always practiced the green environmental protection idea and carried out a sustainable development strategy in every aspect of company operations and production to build a circular economy. In the coming of World Oceans Day. BWOO once again emphasized the importance of beating plastic pollution and protecting the environment and outlined the measures that should be taken to do to turn the tides. They are as follows:

Reduce Plastics on Packaging and Packing

BWOO strives to minimize the use of plastic in product packaging and packing, which highly echoes the theme of the 2023 World Environment Day: Beat Plastic Pollution. For example, in terms of product packaging, in addition to the original packaging scheme of using plastic trays and cartons, we can provide another packaging scheme by using paper trays to replace the original plastic trays. In addition, we use bio-based degradable materials such as bag-made trays and easy-to-recycle materials such as PET to reduce the consumption of raw materials and improve the utilization of resources.

Many suppliers may blindly use too many plastics to fill the packing box to protect the goods while shipping, which undoubtedly has more impact on the environment. However, BWOO always insists on reasonable packing solutions and uses the right amount of plastic to protect our goods during shipping. Plus, this year it will use paper-made fillers in the product packing. In addition, we have always advocated not using inner boxes in packing the goods for 20 years, which, to a certain degree, has contributed to reducing carbon emissions.

Using Environmentally friendly materials

BWOO has always strictly followed international standards and reduced harmful substances in product design and manufacturing by actively eliminating lead, mercury, cadmium, polybrominated biphenyls, hexavalent chromium, and other items in electronic products. As such, every product we manufactured meets international certifications like 3C, Roth, and UL. Besides, we make further efforts to reduce the impacts of products on the environment by integrating multiple material supply chains to select environmentally friendly materials from product design and manufacturing to make halogen-free all our products ranging from chargers, mobile power supplies, and wireless chargers to earphones.

BWOO adheres to the strategy of sustainable development and uses environmentally friendly materials in design and production. It mainly uses Aluminum, tin, graphite, TPE, TPU, Silicone, and more recycled materials in our products. Meanwhile, we will explore and introduce more high-quality materials to product production, such as using degradable PLA, PHA, PBA, and other bio-based plastics instead of synthetic plastics.

Constantly improve product quality

Over the years, BWOO has been committed to providing high-quality products, and the defective rate is one in a thousand. Each product o we made strictly follows OQC before shipping to ensure product quality, thereby reducing electronic waste. Besides, we maximize the service life of products by improving product performance and using eco-friendly materials from design and production, contributing a lot to reducing the requests for resources.

Reasonable shipping planning

Greenhouse gas emissions brought by the shipping industry are one of the important causes of global climate change. According to the Greenhouse Gas Research of the International Maritime Organization, ocean shipping emissions account for 2.2% of the total global greenhouse gas emissions. If not controlled, it is estimated that ocean shipping CO2 emissions will increase by 50%-250% by 2050, which will seriously aggravate the pollution of the oceans. BWOO tries its best to protect the ocean by planning reasonable shipping ways and shortening shipping distances to decrease emissions in the shipping process.

Form a Green Living Lifestyle

According to statistics, commuting is one of the largest sources of a company's carbon footprint. During the pandemic, global carbon emissions have also dropped by 7% with the decrease of commuting and business trips. Therefore, BWOO encourages all employees to commute public transportation to reduce carbon footprints. In addition, we advise employees to keep a green lifestyle, such as using environmentally friendly cloth bags instead of plastic bags and reducing paper consumption through online work.

Believe, As long as we work together to protect the environment, We can certainly build a better world.
